In honor of National Safety Month we’re looking at the history and current state of workplace and construction safety in the US. Here are just a few of the many important events that helped get us to where we are today.

The first systematic investigation of occupational accidents was performed by Crystal Eastman. In her one-year survey of Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, she revealed that 536 men were killed by work accidents.
